Ingredients
Scale
2 large apples (Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp recommended)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C).
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Wash and core the apples. You can leave the skin on for extra nutrients and texture.
Slice the apples thinly, about 1/16 inch thick. A mandoline slicer works best for uniform slices, but a sharp knife will do.
Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets.
Sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired.
Bake for 2 to 3 hours, or until the slices are dry and slightly crispy. Turn them over halfway through the baking time.
Turn off the oven and let the apple chips cool completely in the oven with the door slightly ajar. This helps them crisp up further.
Store the apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
Ensure your oven temperature is low to prevent burning.
Thin slices will bake faster and become crispier.
You can experiment with other spices like nutmeg or cardamom.
