Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750ml) sparkling apple cider
  • 1 bottle (750ml) dry white wine or prosecco
  • 1 cup apple brandy or calvados
  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • Fresh cranberries (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh apple slices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher, combine the sparkling apple cider, white wine or prosecco, apple brandy, and orange liqueur.
  2. Add the sliced orange, sliced apple, cinnamon stick, and star anise (if using).
  3. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.
  4. Chill the sangria in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Before serving, stir the sangria again.
  6. Pour the sangria into wine glasses, making sure to include some of the fruit from the pitcher.
  7. Garnish with fresh cranberries and apple slices, if desired.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the white wine and apple brandy, and use an additional bottle of sparkling apple cider or sparkling white grape juice.
  • Adjust the sweetness by using a sweeter or drier sparkling wine.
  • You can substitute other seasonal fruits like pears or pomegranates.
  • For a warmer spice profile, add a few cloves.
