Make a complete, flavorful meal in one skillet featuring tender steak coated in rich garlic butter sauce served over perfectly cooked rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice, uncooked
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season the steak cubes evenly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the steak cubes to the hot skillet in a single layer. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
  5. Stir in the uncooked rice and Italian seasoning. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to coat the rice in the garlic butter.
  6. Pour in the beef broth. Bring the mixture to a boil, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  7. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet tightly, and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  8. After 15 minutes, remove the skillet from the heat. Gently fold the cooked steak cubes back into the rice mixture. Keep the skillet covered and let it rest off the heat for 5 minutes to allow the rice to absorb remaining liquid and the steak to finish cooking.
  9. Fluff the rice gently with a fork, stir in half of the fresh parsley, and serve immediately, garnished with the remaining parsley.

Notes

  • For best results, use high-quality beef broth for maximum flavor in the rice.
  • If you prefer medium-rare steak, ensure your cubes are small and cook them quickly; they will finish cooking during the resting period.
  • You can substitute chicken broth for beef broth if preferred.
