Ingredients
Scale
1 (13.8 ounce) package refrigerated pizza dough
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir the onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the cooked beef. Remove from heat.
In a bowl, mix the cooked ground beef, crumbled bacon, mozzarella, cheddar, and Monterey Jack cheeses.
Unroll the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. If the dough is a rectangle, leave it as is. If it is round, roll it into a rough rectangle shape, about 10 by 14 inches.
Spoon the meat and cheese mixture down the center third of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on the long sides.
Cut diagonal slits about 1 inch wide along both long edges of the dough, starting from the edge of the filling and cutting toward the edge of the dough.
Fold the top and bottom edges of the dough over the filling. Then, fold the cut strips alternately over the center seam, overlapping them like a braid to seal the filling inside the loaf. Pinch the ends closed securely.
Carefully transfer the loaf to the prepared baking sheet. Brush the entire surface with the beaten egg wash.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly inside.
Let the bread cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
You can substitute the ground beef with cooked Italian sausage for a different flavor profile.
For extra crispiness, brush the top lightly with melted butter instead of the egg wash.
Serve this hot sandwich idea with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
