Prepare this simple, flavorful smoked salmon dip quickly. It uses cream cheese, fresh dill, and lemon for a perfect appetizer for parties or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces smoked salmon, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon capers, drained and chopped
  • 1 small shallot, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (optional, taste first)

Instructions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese in a medium bowl.
  2. Add the chopped smoked salmon, dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, capers, minced shallot, and black pepper to the bowl.
  3. Use a fork or electric mixer on low speed to combine all ingredients until smooth and creamy. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  4. Taste the dip and add a small pinch of salt if needed, depending on the saltiness of your salmon.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill the dip for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve cold with crackers, bagel chips, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, you can briefly pulse the ingredients in a food processor.
  • You can make this dip up to 2 days ahead of time and store it covered in the refrigerator.
  • Garnish the top with extra chopped dill or a few capers before serving.
