Make tender, juicy steak bites effortlessly in your slow cooker. This simple crockpot steak recipe is perfect for a hands-off weeknight dinner served over mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed sirloin steak into your slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle the steak evenly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Toss gently to coat the meat.
  3. Pour the beef broth over the steak mixture.
  4. Scatter the pieces of butter over the top of the steak. Add the minced garlic.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, or on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours, until the steak is very tender.
  6. Once cooked, stir everything together gently to create a simple garlic butter sauce coating the steak bites.
  7. Serve the crockpot steak bites immediately over mashed potatoes or rice. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can sear the steak cubes in a hot skillet for 1-2 minutes per side before adding them to the slow cooker. This step is optional but adds depth.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the steak after cooking, set it aside, and let the liquid simmer on HIGH for 15-20 minutes uncovered until it reduces slightly.
  • This recipe works well with other cuts like chuck roast, but sirloin provides the best ‘steak bite’ texture.
