Make a delicious white pizza using a creamy ricotta and garlic base instead of tomato sauce. This recipe yields a cheesy, flavorful pizza perfect for a quick dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven and pizza stone (if using) to 475 degrees Fahrenheit. If not using a stone, lightly grease a pizza pan.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll your pizza dough into a 12 to 14-inch circle. Place the dough on your prepared pan or pizza peel.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until combined.
  4. Spread the ricotta mixture evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a one-inch border for the crust.
  5. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the ricotta base.
  6. Drizzle the olive oil lightly over the top of the cheese.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove the pizza from the oven. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.
  9. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, place a pizza stone or baking steel in the oven while it preheats.
  • You can substitute half the ricotta with cream cheese for an even richer sauce texture.
  • Add cooked, crumbled Italian sausage or sautéed spinach as an optional topping before baking.
