2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional toppings: chopped nuts, extra cinnamon, a drizzle of maple syrup
Instructions
Combine oats, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a saucepan.

Notes
For a creamier oatmeal, use whole milk or add a splash of cream.
Adjust the amount of brown sugar and cinnamon to your preference.
This oatmeal can also be made in the microwave: combine ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on high for 2-3 minutes, stirring halfway through.
