A recipe for jumbo pasta shells filled with a creamy chicken and cheese mixture, baked in Alfredo sauce and topped with more cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups Alfredo sauce (homemade or good quality store-bought)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package directions until al dente. Drain them and rinse with cold water to stop cooking. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded cooked chicken, softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese, heavy cream, garlic powder, pepper, and salt. Mix until the filling is smooth and well combined.
  4. Spread about 1 cup of the Alfredo sauce evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Carefully stuff each cooked pasta shell with the chicken and cheese mixture. Place the filled shells seam-side up in the baking dish over the sauce.
  6. Pour the remaining Alfredo sauce over the stuffed shells.
  7. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and the remaining 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the cheese topping is melted and lightly golden brown.
  9. Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a shortcut, use 2 cups of high-quality store-bought Alfredo sauce.
  • You can substitute rotisserie chicken for cooking and shredding fresh chicken breasts.
  • To add vegetables, mix 1/2 cup of finely chopped, cooked spinach or sautéed mushrooms into the filling mixture.
  • If you prefer a sharper cheese flavor, substitute Gruyere for some of the mozzarella.
