- 4 medium sweet potatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon coarse salt
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
- Scrub the sweet potatoes clean under running water. Pat them completely dry with a paper towel.
- Prick each sweet potato several times deeply with a fork. This allows steam to escape.
- Rub the exterior of each potato lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet lined with foil.
- Bake for 45 to 60 minutes. Baking time depends on the size of the potatoes.
- Test for doneness by squeezing gently; the potato should yield easily. The internal temperature should reach 205 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Remove from the oven. Slice open lengthwise and fluff the inside flesh with a fork before serving with your preferred toppings.
Notes
- For extra crispy skin, place the potatoes directly on the oven rack without foil.
- If you want a quicker bake, cut the potatoes in half lengthwise before rubbing with oil and salt, and bake cut-side up for 30 to 40 minutes.
- Serve with cinnamon butter or a drizzle of maple syrup for added flavor.
